Promising, but does not deliver !

Had high hopes for this item, but it does not live up to the hype !
Install instructions were terribly vague, what's a nutsert ?
calling the contact number helped, but after install the bottom nutsert pivot part failed within 3 openings.
Called the contact number and while helpful, they concurred the instructions were an issue and made a few suggestions including sending another install kit...
Since it would need to be drilled out and destroyed to replace, I tried to tighten the nutsert to see if it would work.
With about twice as many turns as the instructions suggested, it still pivots from the weight and let's the bottom shock mount slip off and then the tailgate comes BANGING down.
will be returning this.

No more slamming tailgate

I don't know why all of the negative reviews, Some people don't take the time to think things through. It was only a one beer job for the install after deciphering the instructions.
I'm going to order one more for a friend for Christmas.

tailgate assist

it is alot easier to let the tailgate down now especially for my 5ft tall girlfriend. im not worried about the tailgate smashing her now. after install it was very hard to shut the tailgate and it has always been very easy to shut before. after opening and closing a few times it became easy again. the shock hits the rubber guide on the side of the bed and once it ripped it off it became easy to shut but now the guide is no longer. I guess it will be fine though.
